Patriot Day, Monday September 11, 2017

Patriot Day… Next week on Monday, September 11th, we will be taking time to hold a moment of silence to recognize the victims of September 11th. On that day in 2001, terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners to strike targets in the United States. Nearly 3,000 people died as a result of the attacks. By presidential proclamation, Americans are called to observe Patriot Day each September 11th with a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Flags will be displayed at half-staff in honor of those who lost their lives. Please show your respect by wearing red, white, and blue to show your pride in America!

In addition, September 17th is Constitution Day commemorating the formation and signing of the US Constitution on September 17, 1787. This has been known as Citizenship day in the past. This day is important to commemorate the creation and signing of the law of the land and to honor and celebrate the privileges and responsibilities of UN. Citizenship for both native-born and naturalized citizens. Teachers will have a variety of activities to celebrate this day. I hope everyone will wear their red, white, and blue to show their patriotism. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful country where everyone is included and recognized.
